Hilton Q3 2026 Revenue, EPS and Margins
Hilton's Q3 2026 diluted EPS was $2.37, up 33.1% from $1.78 and the highest of the last 16 quarters, on revenue that grew 6.6% to $3.33 billion. EPS grew five times faster than revenue, and the gap has three sources.
The Data: Operating income rose 17.0% to $909 million, an operating margin of 27.3%, up 2.4 points and the highest of the last 16 quarters. Pretax income rose 19.5% to $722 million, net income 27.3%, and diluted shares fell 4.6% to 226 million, the lowest of the last 16 quarters. Cost reimbursement revenues were $1,967 million of $3,325 million in revenue, against $1,951 million of reimbursed expenses, so 59% of the top line is pass-through that adds almost no profit.
Why: Income tax expense was $186 million against $183 million a year earlier, so the effective tax rate fell to about 25.8% from 30.3% (derived). At last year's rate, net income would have been about $503 million and EPS about $2.23 (derived). The 10-Q credits a $26 million decrease from higher tax credits. The share count adds roughly 5.8 points between net income growth and EPS growth. The 8-K's adjusted EPS rose a slower 16%, to $2.45 from $2.11, because last year's special items were $0.33 a share against $0.08 now. A quarter whose GAAP growth runs twice the adjusted growth is mostly a tax-and-comparison story.

What Hilton's 10-Q Shows Beyond the Press Release
Hilton's Q3 2026 operating cash flow was $721 million, down 11.6% from $816 million a year earlier, while net income rose 27.3%. The release prints no cash flow figure, and the filing carries the gap.
The Data: Operating cash flow was 1.35 times net income this quarter against 1.94 times a year earlier (derived). Nine-month operating cash flow was $1,811 million against $1,926 million, down 6.0%, and GeminIQ's trailing-twelve-month figure fell 19.7% to $2.01 billion. The quarter itself was the second highest of the last 16, up 52.8% from $472 million in Q2, so the weakness sits in the earlier quarters and the year-ago comparison.
Why: The 10-Q attributes the nine-month decline primarily to a $401 million increase in income tax payments "due to timing." Without that increase, nine-month operating cash flow would have been about $2,212 million, up 14.9% (derived). If the timing explanation holds, trailing cash flow converges back toward earnings.

Hilton Q3 2026 Free Cash Flow, Buybacks and Debt
Hilton's Q3 2026 free cash flow was $689 million, down 12.5% from $787 million and the second highest of the last 16 quarters. Hilton returned $879 million to shareholders in the quarter, 1.28 times that free cash flow (derived).
The Data: Hilton repurchased 2.6 million shares for $845 million at an average $320.05. Share-based compensation was $59 million, so buybacks ran at about 14 times the cost of the stock issued. Debt was $13,453 million against $12,459 million at December 31, 2025, after a $1.0 billion 5.500% notes issue in May. GeminIQ's pre-calculated Net Debt to EBITDA was 3.86x against 3.82x, and the Current Ratio was 0.59x against 0.66x, with $600 million of 4.875% notes due April 2027 now current.
Why: Buybacks that dwarf share-based compensation cut the count rather than offset dilution, and the 4.6% fall in diluted shares shows it. Interest expense rose 15.7% to $184 million, of which the 10-Q puts $29 million on the new notes and $14 million on an expired rate swap. GeminIQ's pre-calculated Free Cash Flow fell 19.2% on a trailing basis to $1.93 billion, and the debt-funded gap between returns and cash generation is where interest cost accumulates.

Hilton's 2026 Guidance After Q3
Hilton guided full-year 2026 Adjusted EBITDA of $4,060 million to $4,080 million in the 8-K, against $4,040 million to $4,080 million in July. The low end rose $20 million and the midpoint $10 million.
The Data: The company guided net income of $1,909 million to $1,923 million, up from $1,883 million to $1,911 million, and comparable RevPAR growth of 4.0% to 4.5%, up from 3.0% to 3.5%. Q3 net income was $536 million against the $502 million to $516 million the company had guided, $20 million above the top. Hilton now guides Q4 net income of $508 million to $522 million.
Why: At midpoints, the prior guidance implied about $523 million of Q4 net income (derived); the new Q4 midpoint is $515 million. The $27 million Q3 outperformance against the guided midpoint was carried into the year as only $19 million, so the remainder of the year was trimmed. The 8-K cites lower expectations for the Middle East and timeshare license fees. The 10-Q shows Middle East and Africa RevPAR down 5.6% in Q3, and the 8-K says Q3 benefited from the World Cup and calendar shifts. The company guided Q4 RevPAR growth of 3.0% to 3.5% against 5.8% in Q3.
How HLT Stock Has Moved After Past Earnings Reports
Across Hilton's last 12 10-Q filings with a completed one-month window, filed 2023-10-25 to 2026-07-28, the median one-month return was +0.8%, positive after 7 of 12. The three-month median was +5.1%, positive after 8 of 12.
The Data: One-month returns ran from −8.1% after the FY2025 Q4 filing to +11.7% after the FY2023 Q3 filing, a spread of about 20 points around that median. Past Q3 filings were followed by one-month returns of +11.7%, +6.5% and −2.0%. This filing's windows have not elapsed. These figures describe how Hilton's stock moved after its past filings; they are a historical association, not a forecast. The Earnings Reaction Heat Map carries the full grid, and GeminIQ's earnings reaction study covers the wider pattern.
Why: A sub-one-point median inside a 20-point range means the median is a weak yardstick. Institutions held 89.91% of shares at June 30, 2026, down 3.62 points from a year earlier, though still the sixth highest of the last 16 quarters; the September 30 13F has not yet been filed. Form 4 filings from 2025-09-14 to 2026-09-14 show 3 sales totaling $38.7 million and no purchases, with CEO Christopher Nassetta at $36.3 million, 94% of the total. The prior 12 months held 5 sales totaling $24.2 million and no purchases; the data stops at September 14. When net income outruns operating cash flow, the next filing's income tax payments line decides whether the gap was timing or substance.
